ABSTRACT
UHMPE fibres were treated for 0, 1,
and 2 min respectively by atmospheric pressure He plasma on a capacitively-coupled device
at a frequency of 7.5 kHz and He pressure of 3430 Pa. The 2-min He plasma treatment etched
the surface of the fibre resulting in a 70% increase of fibre/epoxy interfacial shear
strength over the control and 1-min treated group.
